For those who know me, I’m a bit of an environmentalist and prepper too. That said, related to the prepping, I decided to get my Amateur Radio license this winter.
It’s now official. I’m licensed as VA3ZEV. Why that call sign. I’m a big proponent of electric vehicles so the VA3 is the Province of Ontario and ZEV is Zero Emission Vehicle. I couldn’t get my initials in any format so this was the good compromise I thought.
I’m getting set up now. Have a BFTech BF-F8RT, an upgrade to the famous or should I say infamous Baofeng UV5R. Shortly, will have a Yaesu FT3DR which will get me digital modes as well as few other features. If in the Burlington area, I often monitor the local 2m and 70cm repeaters to try me.
